School Children Plant Tree for Clean Air
Members of the Breathe Clean Air Group were joined by Trafford Councillors and Alan Dawson of Newcroft Nurseries, at Highfield Primary School, Urmston, Greater Manchester, on Friday (27th April), to plant a cherry tree.
Chairman of the Breathe Clean Air Group Pete Kilvert, said that greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and other air pollution are a threat to our very existence. Since trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen it is vital to plant trees and keep our native forests intact.
Mr Kilvert thanked Alan Dawson of Newcroft Nurseries for donating the tree; Councillors David Acton and Joanne Harding for attending, BCAG member Margaret Moules for making the arrangements; and Headteacher Charles Parfitt and the children of Highfield for their assistance in planting the tree.
