Well done Charlotte!! Talking to your teachers is another GREAT way to let people know about this frightening proposal. Your teacher is right too – this is so important to the whole community that we need to come together and act together. It affects us all. Keep up the fantastic work!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I find it hard to believe with all the investment and development around the Davyhulme area (the Trafford Centre, its restaurants, the hotels and various sports facilities) that Peel Holdings could possibly be so misguided as to think that an incinerator in the midst of it could be a good idea! Who in their right mind would choose to shop, eat or train whilst breathing in toxic fumes? Surely this proposal has got to be bad for business not to mention the negative affect on the local community.

  8. Alison Parker says:

  10. Geri Brown says:

Shame on you Peel 15 jobs that’s a mega lot of workers in a plant at bloody size jesus.!!!!!

  11. Linda says:

Why oh why are Peel allowed to swallow up the land round Davyhulme. To build something like this is deplorable, putting peoples health at risk. As if having the smells from the largest sewage works in the north of england (if not the largest in england) is not bad enough, now we have the fear of breathing in toxic fumes. Stand up to Peel Trafford Councillors and stop this nonense once and for all. 15 jobs !!!! Gee thats helping the local community I don’t think. Make a stand. Stick up for your local area – and remember most of you Councillors actually live in the area too.

  12. Alison Parker says:

Good for you Linda ! We all need to stick together on this and get it STOPPED. Peel shouldnt be allowed to do this its HORRENDOUS. There isnt a filter system in the world that can remove all the harmful Toxins and Dixoins. What ever Peel say incinerators are a huge risk to human health and the local environment.

  13. melissa hodson says:

I also cannot understand why peel holdings think such a plant in this area would be a good idea – I wonder about the impact on the enviroment. The manchester ship canal is now a clean and pleasant place for wildlife but for how long?? Plus the possible health issues to local residents I’d like someone to explain to us what minimal means does that mean minor illnesses or 20 years down the line children with leukemia etc. I was going to buy a house on Broadway but when i found out about this proposal i have not even viewed it prefering to stay in a hoiuse too small than risk my families health. I Cannot attend the public meeting due to prior commintments but my partner and i both support opposition to this build in this particular location

  14. Alison Parker says:

Hi everyone just to say i think anyone wanting to move house NOW ! Will have a big problem. Now its in the local press about the plant everyone will know and will be very worried about the health risks. I wouldnt want to buy house near it , who would ??????

  15. Barry says:

It may be worth writing to the 4 registered Directors of Peel Energy directly to register opposition to the proposed plant.
They are Mr Neil Lees, Mr Stephen Richard Klein, Mr Steven Underwood and Mr John Whittaker.
Note that none of them live close by. The first two live in Wilmslow, the next in Holcombe(Lancs) and the latter, Mr Whittaker(Peel owner), resides in the tax haven of the Isle of Man.
Information on their location taken from publicly held information (Peel Energy company registration 06335364).

  16. Freddy 'Mad Dog' Engels says:

I’d like to give Peel my feedback – you are avaricious capitalists who ride rough-shod over anyone and anything. One thing you are lacking in is respect for people. I would love to see the window-cleaning bill for the Traffic Centre – oops, I mean Trafford Centre if the plans are passed and the minescule PM1s form a dusty layer over the whole centre. Classy, eh?? That’s if anyone still frequents the TC by then of course. How will John Lewis, M&S and Debenhams feel knowing they are supporting the slow poisoning of their customers?

  17. Michael Black says:

I’ve given Peel my feedback, but they have totally ignored my e-mail – speaks volumes!

  18. jessie says:

    Quite simple really:

    NO……………. Not in my backyard………………….

  19. charmaine says:

Feedback from the public consultation held on 20 and 21 July by Peel Energy has demonstrated solid levels of support for the proposed Barton Renewable Energy Plant on a site located on the south bank of the Manchester Ship Canal in Trafford.
Peel Energy invited members of the public to view the plans for the 20MW biomass-fuelled plant at an open consultation at the Powerleague Soccer Dome at Trafford Quays Leisure Village. The use of biomass to generate energy is often described as a carbon neutral technology as the fuel is derived from plants that absorb carbon dioxide from the air as they grow.
Senior members of the project team were on hand to explain the proposal to over 170 residents from Trafford and Salford who attended the consultation. An alternative plant design was also displayed for the first time at the consultation so that project staff could discuss the appearance of the plant with visitors present.
A questionnaire asked visitors for their views on the Barton Renewable Energy Plant plans. Overall more than three quarters of attendees who provided a questionnaire response said they broadly had no objections to the proposal put forward. Over 46% of respondents gave the plant a clear thumbs up by saying they strongly agreed or agreed with the proposal. 26% of respondents expressed neutral views.
The government also reaffirmed its support for low carbon energy generation in the UK on 27 July in the first Annual Energy Statement to Parliament when the Environment Secretary Chris Huhne told MPs: รขโ‚ฌล“We remain committed to developing generation from marine energy, biomass and anaerobic digestion.รขโ‚ฌย
Peel Energy project director, Jon England commented: รขโ‚ฌล“We are extremely pleased with the level of interest shown in the Barton Renewable Energy Plant project by the community. The backing shown for the proposal is extremely encouraging and with the support of residents we will be formally submitting a project planning application to Trafford Council in the autumn.รขโ‚ฌย ……………170people is that all there is in trafford/salford??? and where exactly did they post this first i knew about this!!!!!!!
my mum lives very close to the trafford centre Salford side and new nothing of this plant till i told her if its soo good for us why are they not shouting it from the roof tops??? very annoyed flixton resident

  20. Jeremy says:

Charmaine – Peel are experts at lying & manipulating. They will do ANYTHING for money. They think the local residents are a bit simple – why else would they seriously think they could get away with this? Local residents are intelligent people who can see past glossy brochures and lying-patronizing-grinning-suited-dummies and see the danger behind this shady proposal. We will fight this proposal for years if necessary.

  21. Jayne says:

170 residents? Bet most of them were Peel employees!

  22. Alison Parker says:

I am sick of Peel and everyone we spoke to in Urmston Town Centre were very unhappy with them as well. They said we have had enough of Peel and we must fight this all the way. Which is what we in tend to do!
