Group’s Social Success at Golf Club
The Breathe Clean Air Group and supporters enjoyed their first major fundraising event on Friday evening at Davyhulme Park Golf Club. The Disco and Buffet brought together local people and their Councillors and raised nearly £1,000, which will go toward legal costs at the forthcoming Public Inquiry against the controversial Barton Renewable Energy Plant.
In a brief speech, founding member Jo Burgess reminded the guests about the pollution that may affect the health of our children and grandchildren from an incinerator that would no use best available technology and had a midget chimney. Fundraising Co-ordinator Lyn Davies reminded the guests of future social events such as a Jam Tribute Band night on 19th October and a Race Night on 27th October.
Chairman of the Breathe Clean Air Group, Pete Kilvert said, “we are very grateful to all who contributed to the event. It is vital that we get enough funding to pay for our legal representatives. After all, Peel Energy can produce millions of pounds to support their incinerator bid, even though they know that it’s not wanted by the people of Urmston, Flixton and Davyhulme.”
Please see the Group’s website: www.BreatheCleanAirGroup.co.uk for details of the fundraising events and how to object at the Public Inquiry on 13th November, at Manchester United Football Ground.
