BCAG Successfully Resolve ASA Investigation
We have also been made aware of the spin which Peel Energy appear to have put on the result.  They somehow managed to express that we have distributed misleading information.  By whose judgement?  Theirs alone.  The ASA did not find us to be in breach of their code or distributing misleading information.
Fortunately for us, access to information via the internet means that everyone has the power to check the information we share.  We do not need to gloss up our claims, as Peel Energy have been forced to do (e.g. when they claimed 80% supported the plant, based on the questionnaire responses from only 10 people).  We also do not believe that you all blindly follow whatever we say:  Jon England appears to think that our community consists of sheep who just follow whatever the BCAG say.  However, we are an intelligent community and people are making their own minds up.
Furthermore, we do understand why the investigation was launched against us.  The developers and their PR company wanted to discredit our information.  However, each week, we are gaining support from more and more experts.  One such expert insisted that we must keep going because, “The truth is on your side.”
In terms of the next steps for us, we are very much looking forward to submitting our ASA complaint against Peel Energy.  We believe their communications have contained vagueness, lies and misleading information.  However, we have the knowledge to spot these instances and they will not get away with trying to fool us.
Common sense prevails at last! Go for it BCAG – it is time someone stood up to Peel and their underhand arrogant methods. We have far too much pollution here without a blasted incinerator spewing out poison. Everyone round here hates Peel. We are all aware of how low they are prepared to stoop to make money.
Shame on the ASA for allowing themselves to be manipulated by Peel. This is absolutely disgraceful. I say you carry on distributing the leaflets and to hell with the ASA. What happend to Freedom of Speech? Are we now living in a communist state? Keep up the good work. I have an allotment and if they have an incinerator I won’t be able to eat what I grow – dioxins, food chain and all that.
Peel will do anything to get this plant passed! They are only bothered about how much money they will be getting out of it! They do not care about the local people, well the local people have had enough and there is no way that this plant should get passed . As we are way over air pollution limits already. They must see that and we need to protect that as the cost would be our health!
As Alison says, Peel will do anything to get this incinerator to be passed. We have done everything in our power to help this community in trying to get this stopped, Jon England has even said that the breathecleanair group are ‘irate protesters who had’nt read any reports’ think somehow it’s him and his cronies that has not read any reports, if he had he would be against this incinerator like the thousands of residents in this are. We are still fighting and will fight to the bitter end. “Keep the Faith” folks and watch this space.
Well said Geri,
I am 100% with your group and think that all of you are doing a great job, keep up the good work, we don’t this dirty incinerator in our area. There is much better technology out there regarding incinerators so why don’t Peel use it. I think money and big bonuses comes to mind don’t you.
