BCAG Public Meeting
The Breathe Clean Air Group is to hold a Public Meeting TONIGHT at Christ Church, Lostock Road, Davyhulme, commencing at 7.30 pm.
The purpose of the meeting is to inform residents about the latest developments in the two year campaign to stop the controversial Barton Renewable Energy Plant (aka the Davyhulme Waste Incinerator).
Members of the campaign group will also inform the public how they can make their voice heard at the Public Inquiry to be held at Manchester United Football Ground starting on 13th November next month.
The group is holding a number of fundraising, social events this month (see www.BreatheCleanAirGroup.co.uk) and residents are encouraged to attend to help towards the costs of legal representatives and Air Quality experts at the forthcoming Public Inquiry.
Chairman of the group Pete Kilvert, said “we are appealing to local residents to protect their neighbourhood. The evidence that communities living near incinerators suffer higher levels of infant mortality and deformity is coming to light. We are extremely grateful to the officers of Salford City Council who recently wrote to the Environment Agency pointing out the flaws in Peel Energy’s air quality case. We are very concerned about the number of spontaneous fires that have occurred in wood storage piles. We know that local people don’t want to live next door to an incinerator, so it must not be built.”
Members of the media are most welcome to attend the Public Meeting.
